For centuries, the limestone extraction for construction in Paris produced kilometers of empty spaces under the city’s surface. It is a complex network of tunnels and halls, a labyrinth without access. Despite police surveillance, however, visitors gather regularly in the underground city, impregnating it with their own visions. They long for a space opposite of the harmless, controlled city above ground where the unknown and unexpected have been eradicated.
